Does your child use your smartphone to watch videos on YouTube ? Do you worry whether he/she would unintentionally open and view some inappropriate content, which may have bad effect on him/her. If thats the case then you should think about setting parental control on your YouTube app to prevent your children from getting bad exposure online. In this article we will show you how to turn on Parental Control for YouTube app on Android.

YouTube Restricted Mode (Parental Control) set up procedure:

For turning on YouTube Restricted Mode on your Android Smartphone, you will need to do the following:

1. Tap on your YouTube Account Icon located at the top-right corner of the screen.

2. Tap on the ‘Settings’ button located at the bottom of the screen.


3. Tap on the ‘General’ button.

4. Now, tap on toggle button located corresponding to the ‘Restricted Mode’ text.

Doing all the above will turn on the YouTube Restricted Mode, that is, the Parental Control on your smartphone.

Once the Parental Control for YouTube is turned on, all the inappropriate videos on YouTube will not be displayed in the YouTube Search results. Although, the Restricted Mode of YouTube is effective, it is not 100% accurate, as informed by the text written below the Restricted Mode setting. After testing the YouTube Restricted Mode, we found that the feature is very effective and prevents all major kinds of potentially mature videos from getting displayed in the search results.

The Parental Control feature of YouTube app also hides the comments belows YouTube videos, in order to prevent children from reading abusive text messages written by others. Another reason behind not showing comments may be to prevent children from learning wrong word spellings and grammar.

Note: The YouTube Restricted Mode setting is applicable only to the YouTube app on the device upon which it is applied.
